About The Micro-Drip Irrigation Method and its advantages

Micro Dripping is an irrigation method that enables a very low flow rate, close to one tenth the flow of ordinary drippers. The nominal flow rate of each Micro Dripper may be as low as 0.2 liters/hour and this low flow is resulting with better wetting distribution in the soil. The different wetting patterns are illustrated below.

Ein-Tal’s Micro-Drippers are designed for use with both pressure and gravity systems:

· For pressure systems we offer our Mini Flow Regulator (a regulated master dripper of 2 or 4 L/hr). Its outlet may feed a bundle of Multi-Outlet Micro-Drippers for pots, or a ring of Chain Drippers  - “Spaghetti”  around a tree.

 

· Gravity Micro Drip system operates under the very low pressure of water filled into a small pool or tank, that generates an hydrostatic pressure of less than 1m (0.1 bar). The water flows from the tank via feed lines to the Micro-Drip Lines .A typical system is illustrated below.

The slower infiltration in the soil allows the plant to develop a wider roots pack, as illustrated in the left picture.

A better matching between the watering rate and the sucking rate of the plant is therefore achieved.

Waste of water flushed below the roots is eliminated and

the result is better corps for less water.  

The Micro-Drip Lines are thin, just 3mm. It creates a capillary effect that supports the flow even under very low pressure.

This method is the mere solution for zones where water resources are limited or where the water pressure is low due to lack of pumps, electric power or supply infrastructure.
